This Saturday night – November 3, Airbnb is having their launch in Sydney at Turbine Hall on Cockatoo Island. Its a complete sellout (even though it was free) with almost 1900 people attending according to the meet up page here
Jo and I are attending and Airbnb have been in contact with us both last week and today re the launch as they have been looking for long term Sydney hosts willing to share their experiences with Airbnb. We’ve been in touch re a new feature they are working on for the best experiences in each city. I’ll keep mine a secret until they launch the new feature. I also had a call yesterday from their PR agency in Sydney and did an interview for them with Fairfax media on our experiences which I will link to these as soon as they are published. Look for an article in the SMH on Saturday or Sunday
Looking forward to a big night of entertainment and looking forward to the surprises they have in store – hopefully announcing some new Air Ambassadors and Superhosts (our application is till pending) would be great!
Here are the details from the official invite
Hello Friends –
The details of our event have arrived and you’re invited!
Every day, Airbnb hosts welcome guests with little gestures that go a long way: an impromptu meal, fresh flowers, or even just a simple note. These small moments of hospitality are what defines the Airbnb experience—and they’ve inspired us to set off on a “Welcome Home” tour starting with the Airbnb community in Sydney.
Venture with us across the open sea to takeover Turbine Hall on Cockatoo Island on Saturday, November 3rd from 8pm to midnight.
Let us treat you to complimentary cocktails, surprise sweets, and tasty bites from our favorites, Agape Organic Food Truck and Cantina Mobil. Take snowy snapshots in our photo booth, while DJ Levins brings the jams. We’re creating immersive installations to share with you, not to mention a surprise or two up our sleeve.
We can’t wait to “Welcome Home” our Airbnb community. In the meantime, we’d love to hear about the special experiences of hospitality that have made your Airbnb experiences unforgettable. Share those moments with us on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram with the hashtag #airbnbwelcome
To ensure quick entry – please print out this invitation and bring with you. Though the guest list is full – we will be randomly selecting people from our wait list to join the party, so please continue to invite your friends to RSVP: bit.ly/airbnbsydney
See you soon,
The Airbnb Crew
